Location,
Climate and Geography
The Republic of
Vanuatu, an archipelago of approximately 83 islands is
situated in the South-western Pacific Ocean, about 1,750
kilometres east of Australia and 500 kilometres northeast
of New Caledonia. The total land area is approximately
12,200 square kilometres and the territorial waters cover
450,000 square kilometres.
Santo (Espirito Santo) is the largest island in Vanuatu
and is situated in the northern part of the country. Santo
is famous for it’s World War II history, hosting thousands
of American soldiers as a ‘rest and relaxation’ and
provisioning base for their marine activities in the South
Pacific.
Santo is now the diving capital of Vanuatu - offering
spectacular ship wrecks and dramatic coral reefs. Tourism
is the largest growing sector for the island. Following
the construction of the Santo international airport in
2004, the island now has a budding boutique resort
industry to compliment the diving sector.
Investment Environment
Vanuatu’s government has shown strong and consistent
support to Foreign Investment. Being a tax free nation
with a growing tourism industry and stable political
environment, the country is ideally suited to foreign
nationals interested in a tropical vacation getaway,
property investment and business. Vanuatu has a peaceful
environment with a high standard of living where investors
from all over the world have found paradise.
